Radial-G Demo available to download

F-Zero X meets Wipeout in this fast-paced sci-fi racer.

Yesterday we brought you a hands-on preview of Radial-G, a brand new racer designed exclusively for VR and the Oculus Rift headset. Today the game hit the Oculus Share page, available to play on PC.

You’ll find a single track to play, featuring timed laps and a leaderboard that can be viewed from the ships cockpit dashboard. As you race along and around the twisting pipes that make up the track, try to hit the green booster pads while avoiding the rotating red force fields that slow your process. It’s exhilarating, fast-paced and surprisingly motion sickness free.

It’s clear that the team at Tammeka Games, based in Brighton, UK, know their craft. This might be a first demo of their first ever game but it’s polished, graphically adept and fun to play. On the game’s main menu you’ll find a toggle switch for enabling Oculus Rift mode. Once it’s toggled, put on your Rift headset and get ready to enjoy a game designed with VR in mind. You’ll be able to look around the cockpit using head-tracking, or focus your gaze out of the window at the track that spirals off into the distance. As you swoop over massive curves in the track your stomach will drop, evoking the same sensation found in the many popular roller coaster demos already available for the Rift.
