If like me, you’re into your sporty racing cars, then no doubt you’re looking forward to Project CARS and Assetto Corsa later this year.
Both promise to support the Oculus Rift DK2, enabling gamers to race the latest hot hatches, sports cars and super cars. This hasn’t gone by unnoticed by the actual car manufacturers, who have started to code and design their own Oculus Rift racing simulators; and today, Lexus was the latest to reveal its own simulator with its RC F simulator.
Released in beta form at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Monterey, CA, it gives drivers the chance to virtually drive the upcoming Lexus RC F model, which promises to include the most powerful V8 performance engine Lexus has ever produced. Cleverly, Lexus has taken the actual steering column and pedals from the car and then hooked them up to the simulation, to provide the most realistic control method possible for a game of this type.
Graphically the sim doesn’t appear to be as complex or impressive as either Project CARS or Assetto Corsa, but nevertheless provides an impressive experience for those who want to virtually test drive the car. Unfortunately, you can’t download the simulator yourself, but the company did reveal an in-game video on the simulator in action.
