A new LunarFlight gameplay video reveals all-new cockpit UI, missions and drones.
It’s been a while since we last checked out LunarFlight on the Oculus Rift; an amazing simulator which lets pilot a craft across the surfaces of the Moon and Mars while carrying out missions that include gathering cargo and acquiring data. What makes the game stand out from others is its sense of scale and attention to detail (in particular the amazing physics engine), which creates an utterly realistic experience on the Oculus Rift. If space flight, mission-based gameplay and immersion is your thing then LunarFlight is definitely worth checking out.
Today a brand new 7-minute gameplay video was released by the developers at Shovsoft, which demonstrates some of the games upcoming features in action. First up is the new cockpit UI, which is more detailed and easier to read in virtual reality. Next, the video shows off a new transport mission while two droids are destroyed using rockets.
It’s been great to see LunarFlight develop and improve since its early release on the Oculus Rift DK1, and there’s never been a better time to jump on-board to enjoy the game in VR. Priced $10 on the Humble Store, the game is an affordable way to experience space flight on the Rift, and with continued updates we’re likely to see support for the retail Oculus Rift headset later this year.
