If there’s one thing we love to do in VR it’s fly a plane.
Not only does Final Burn promise to offer players to fly their own F16 fighter jet, but they also have to dogfight alien ships in an action-packed sky. Announced today by Texas-based Ghost Machine VR, the game is deep in development and built around the Oculus Rift headset. Here’s the official blurb from the game’s website:
What if Top Gun and other fighter-pilot movies had a love child with alien invasion blockbusters from the ’90s? You’d no doubt get Final Burn, an edge-of-your-seat F-16 jet fighter simulator that puts you against an airborne invasion of alien invaders. Relive your favorite moments from end-of-the-world blockbusters as you pilot your very own military-grade death machine to eradicate the earth of the alien presence.
When asked CEO of Ghost Machine, Neal Nellans, was enthusiastic about the future of VR in Austin. “It’s exciting to be part of a new revolution in game design. Austin has always had a spirit of collaboration among indie game developers and the unexplored nature of VR lends itself well to that sort of collaboration“, states Nellans.
You can check out a video of the game in action at the top of this page. It might be early in development, but it shows promise and we look forward to discovering more details.
